Description

The Smith & Wesson Model 48 is a medium-frame, double-action/single-action revolver chambered for the .22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire (WMR) cartridge — often abbreviated on the barrel as “.22 MRF CTG”. It was originally introduced in 1959 as the K-22 MRF Masterpiece and later reclassified by S&W with its numerical model designation. The revolver combines target-oriented features, quality fit-and-finish, and rimfire performance in a classic revolver format.

The Model 48 was produced from 1959 until around 1986, and has since seen “Classic” reissues that honor its original design. The 6-inch barrel is one of the most popular configurations, balancing ballistic performance with handling.
