Description

The Smith & Wesson M&P15 Sport 22 LR (M&P15-22 Sport) is a semi-automatic rimfire rifle chambered in .22 Long Rifle, built to mirror the look, feel, and controls of a standard AR-15 but in a lighter, low-recoil, and low-cost-to-shoot package. It’s especially popular as a training platform, range fun gun, and plinker, letting shooters practice AR-style operation with inexpensive .22 LR ammunition.

Unlike its centerfire cousins, the M&P15-22 series uses blowback operation and polymer receivers rather than direct impingement and forged metal, which helps reduce weight and keep cost down while preserving ergonomics familiar to AR shooters.

AR-Style Layout

• The M&P15-22 Sport’s controls, ergonomics, and handling closely resemble a standard AR-15, making it ideal for training with low-cost ammunition or familiarizing new shooters with AR controls.

• It’s often used as a range plinker and teaching tool because it’s lighter with significantly reduced recoil and ammo cost compared with centerfire AR rifles.

M-LOK Handguard

• A 10″ slim handguard with Magpul® M-LOK™ attachment points lets you mount lights, grips, or other accessories without adding much weight.

• A small 2″ M-LOK rail panel is included for accessory mounting straight from the box.

Folding Sights

• Magpul MBUS® folding front and rear sights are lightweight and durable, providing a ready-to-use sighting system that folds flat when using optics.

Adjustable Stock

• The 6-position CAR stock lets shooters adjust length of pull for comfort or tactical stance variations.

Blowback Operation

• The simple blowback system is reliable with most .22 LR ammunition and keeps maintenance straightforward.
