Heckler & Koch P8A1

Description
The Heckler & Koch P8A1 is a 9 mm semi-automatic service pistol developed for and issued to the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) as their standard sidearm. It is a military-specific variant of the HK USP (Universal Self-loading Pistol) with unique features tailored to military requirements. Compared with the commercial USP, the P8A1 uses a recoil-operated, modified Browning locking system and a traditional lands-and-grooves barrel rather than HK’s more common polygonal rifling. It also has a reversed safety/decocker lever (down = safe, up = fire) and translucent magazines for quick visual ammo checks. The P8A1’s robust design, proven reliability, and military pedigree make it both a functional duty pistol and a desirable collector’s item.
