The M&P9 SPEC Series V (often also marketed as the M&P9 Metal HD Spec Series V) represents the fifth generation of Smith & Wesson’s Spec Series — a special-edition line featuring upgraded components, accessories, and unique finishes beyond standard M&P offerings. Unlike the standard M&P®9 models with polymer frames, this Spec Series V uses a full steel frame and slide, increasing mass for reduced felt recoil and improved stability in rapid fire.

Built on the modern M&P® M2.0 platform, it integrates a threaded barrel with compensator, optics-ready slide, high-capacity magazines, and Performance Center-tuned trigger work. It’s packaged as a collector-oriented and performance-tuned handgun rather than a basic utility pistol.

The Spec Series V is the first in the Spec Series line to use a full steel frame and slide rather than polymer or aluminum. The extra mass helps reduce felt recoil and muzzle flip, making follow-up shots easier and improving stability during extended strings of fire.
